The Universal Living Rosary of St Philomena

I am a new member of the Living Rosary Association in honour of St Philomena, the wonder worker. This was founded by the venerable Pauline Jaricot in 1826. Anyone who joins this association will pray one decade of the rosary daily, for life...while meditating on their assigned mystery....mine is the crucifixion of our Lord.

St Philomena is a tremendously powerful saint! She was a beautiful Greek princess who was martyred in the 4th century. As a young girl, she pledged her virginity to Christ. On spurning the Emperor Diocletian's offer of marriage, she was imprisoned and endured severe suffering. Our Lady appeared to her in a vision and forewarned her what would happen. Great things awaited her if she was able to endure the tortures.

St Philomena endured countless attempts on her life while in prison, including being drowned with a rope fixed around her neck, and being fired upon by arrows. Thanks to the grace of God, she was healed time and time again. St Philomena was finally beheaded. Her remains were discovered in 1802 in the catacombs of Rome. Although not celebrated liturgically, her feast day falls on August 11th.

I am so excited to be part of this! Although I don't know the other 14 members of "my living rosary", when we all say our assigned decade (albeit at different times of the day), we are in spiritual union with each other and in Christ. Our decades keep the fires going...some people's strength will help to ignite others'...and as a result, great power will flow throughout. I find this so uplifting and encouraging.

If you are interested in reading more or would like to enroll, visit the Universal Living Rosary website. Already over a million people are members, across every continent of the world. This is truly remarkable. All you need to do is pledge to say your decade, and offer a voluntary donation to keep the devotion going. I was introduced to the Living Rosary by my mother, who has been a devotee for many years now.

Praise be to Saint Philomena! Do not underestimate her power...I can say this for sure...she is an AMAZING SAINT. Pray to her...have faith...she WILL intercede for you!
